Additional charge to Pandit, Lollen

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: In a minor reshuffling, the State Government has given the additional charge of Secretary Vigilance to D.S.Pandit, Secretary, Sports & Youth Affairs, Labour & Employment. Huzar Lollen, Secretary  Personnel, Administrative Reforms etc, who has been relieved of the charge of Secretary Vigilance, would hold the additional charge of Secretary, District Administration, according to an official order issued by chief secretary Tabom Bam.

 

Boys hostel renovated

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Paktu Ao Youth Welfare Association (PAYWA) repaired the Boys Hostel (Hirik Block) of Govt. Hr. Sec. School Aalo on self-help basis by constructing walls made of bamboo and renovated the toilet and bathroom etc.

The hostel was lying unused in a dilapidated condition for the last 9 years.

The hostel would be handed over to the School authority on August 30 for accommodation of the students. PAYWA,  however, urged the authorities concerned for allocation of seats to the students purely on merit basis. PAYWA expressed gratitude to the villagers Paktu area for extending their philanthropic support by contributing bamboos and the other materials required for the repairing work.

It appealed to the Education  Minister for immediate release of the students’ stipend.

 

Social service

ITANAGAR, Aug 26:  The G-Extension Youth Welfare Association (GEYWA), Naharlagun, decided to organize a social service on August 28. All the residents, businessmen  of the area are expected to take part in it.

 

Federation demands

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) has appealed to the  Lower Subansiri Deputy commission to take steps for renovation of Ziro-Hapoli road at the earliest.

While supporting the demands of its Lower Subansiri  district unit, the Federation also  urged the SBI chief manager to activate the ATM counter at Old Ziro for the convenience of general public including businessmen. It further said that the postal department should also take steps for introduction of speed post facility at Ziro sub-post office.

 

PPA criticized

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: Arunachal Youth Federation has criticized the statement of PPA general secretary Taba Tagar questioning the foreign tour of few Congress leaders.

When several NGOs and political parties including state BJP had questioned the  absence of few ministers and parliamentary secretaries and their campaign at New Delhi for last two months,  the PPA leader kept mum and did not raised any question, the Federation said.

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: All Arunachal Contractors Welfare Association (AACWA) has appointed Biri Takap and Tadar Tare as president and general secretary respectively of the Kurung Kumey district unit of the Association for the period  2011-14.

 

Case registered

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The SIC (Vig), Itanagar PS has registered a case against MLA Kumar Waii and two others under section 120 (B)/420 of IPC RW section 131 (1) (i) and (ii)/13 (2) of  PC Act 1988 for enquiry into their alleged involvement in illegal appointments in the department of tourism. This was informed by complainant All Arunachal Pradesh RTI Activists Organization in a release today. Meanwhile, the organization called for fair and impartial investigation into the matter.

 

Govt urged to take up restoration work

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Sangram Bazaar Welfare Committee has appealed the state Govt to take up anti-erosion measures to safe the Kara Dadi Residential English School, Sangram from land erosion caused by flood water. The committee in a release today said that recent flood water threatened the existence of the school and also washed away a major portion of main road near the school.  It appealed the  state Govt to depute official team to take stock of the damage  and to take up remedial measures.

 

Condolence

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The officer and staff of the director of Economics and Statistics deeply mourned the premature demise of late Taji Hanker, field investigator, Daporijo, who passed away on August 14 last.  In a condolence meeting organized on August 17, the members observed  two minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul  and  conveyed deep sense of condolence to bereaved family of late Hanker.

Day 11 Anna fast: Parliament braces to discuss Jan Lokpal on holiday

New Delhi, Aug 26: Parliament braced to discuss the Jan Lokpal and other related bills in a special sitting tomorrow, a holiday, likely under Rules entailing voting as fasting anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare refused to break his 11-day fast despite failing health.

The Gandhian had stipulated that to end his fast debate commence in the house and introduction of a resolution on three sticking points-inclusion of lower bureaucracy under the ambit of the Lokpal, citizens charter and appointment of Lokayuktas in states.

The government apparently dithered to commence the debate under the rules entailing voting,but the issue snowballed into a controversy. Dissatisfied with the Ruling party Members' notices under Rule 193 for discussion on the Lokpal Bill, the Opposition BJP today gave its own notice under Rule 184 to move a resolution on the issue in the Lok Sabha.

Similar notice has been given in the Rajya Sabha under Rule 168.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said at a party briefing here that their resolution asks for setting up a independent Lokpal institution quickly to deal effectively with rampant corruption in the country.

According to sources,hectic discussions are underway to thrash out the issue on which hinges probalities of Anna Hazare ending his fast.

In an open letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,Anna Hazare made it clear that he would break the fast if the resolution on the issue was brought and debated before for the passage though his stir is all set to continue for a strong Lok Pal. Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi,breaking his silence on the raging issue in a statement in the Lok Sabha, hailed Anna Hazare and said a Constitutional body be created on lines of the Election Commission to deal with scourge of corruption. While the Team Anna stepped up activities to mobilise political parties support for the three sticking points, Parliament started debate for the composite Lok Pal bill and doctors closely monitored the health condition of Anna Hazare.

A supporter of Gandhian Anna Hazare today sent the security personnel in a tizzy when he stormed into Parliament premises and started chanting pro-Anna slogans. Manjit Singh, a resident of Rohtak, entered Parliament premises. He removed his shirt and started chanting slogans like 'Anna zindabad'.The security personnel immediately detained him.

Anna Hazare reiterated that he would break his 11-day-old fast if Parliament agrees to his three demands. Mr Hazare said, however, his protest will continue at Ramlila Maidan till the legislation on Lokpal is passed.

The 74-year-old Gandhian, in a letter to the Prime Minister, demanded an immediate discussion and passing of a resolution on his three key demands-- bringing lower bureaucracy under the Lokpal ambit, establishment of Lokayuktas in the states and Citizen's Charter.

"I have sat on a fast for the people of the country. If there is a need to change the laws to provide relief to the people, then we do not hesitate from doing so," Mr Hazare said in his letter.UNI

 

FDRWC urges CM for release FDR fund for Sagalee-Doimukh road

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Flood Damage Restoration Working Committee (FRFWC) Doimukh-Sagalee road has appealed to Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin to release flood damage restoration (FDR) fund for restoration of Sagalee-Doimukh road which was badly damaged by recent heavy down pour.

In a release today, the Committee said, though entire men and machinaries have been pressed into service for early restoration of the said road, the authorities are facing difficulties to mobilize the resources due to non-release of fund.

The State Govt  had released Rs 17 crore non-plan fund for restoration of capital roads, but not a single paise has been released for Sagalee-Doimukh road, the committee  resented and appealed to the Finance Minister to  look into the problems of the people of Sagalee and other remote areas.  The Committee further said that the fund should be equally distributed in each assembly segment on the basis of population so that people avail the benefit of development without discrimination.

 

‘Develop infrastructure in boundary area’

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: All Arunachal Pradesh Border Peace Association (AAPBPA) has appealed to the state Govt to develop infrastructure along the Assam-Arunachal boundary area for benefit of Arunachalee people.

After its 1st phase of three days tour to Bhalukpong in West Kameng, Seijosa in East Kameng and Tarajuli, Pichola, Taniapa, Gorubanda area under Papum Pare district from August 23 to 25, the Association said that the people of boundary area are  not only facing law and order problems,  they are also  deprived of the basic infrastructure like electricity and water supply and proper road communication. It also expressed concern over the horrible road condition along boundary area in Seijosa circle and Tarajuli area.

It said the State Govt should install CCTV in police check gates in order to reduce crime in boundary area and issue land possession certificate to people living along boundary area  and sanction adequate fund for development of border infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Association appealed to the people residing in other side of the boundary to maintain peace and harmony for promotion of brotherhood among the neighboring people.

 

Caste census at Tawang

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The caste and economic status based census operation 2011 would be conducted at Tawang along with rest of the country in both rural and urban areas.

Chairing a meeting held in this connection here yesterday, Tawang deputy commissioner Kemo Lollen informed that the entire census operation would be carried out by Rural and Urban Development Department. He asked the  BDOs to appoint Enumerators, Supervisors and Data Entry Operators in consultation with the DSO (Statistics) and administrative officers concerned as per norms prescribed by Government of India.

The DC exhorted all the officers to cooperate and work sincerely to make the census a success.

The enumerators would visit every household for the survey and census on caste and religion basis.

The entire exercise would be paper less as the enumerators would conduct survey with computers.

In the meeting district road map action plan for conduct of the census was finalized and responsibilities and charter of duties were fixed.

The main objectives of caste and economic based census are to rank the households based on their socioeconomic status to enable the State Governments to prepare a list of families living below the poverty line, to make available authentic information that will enable caste wise population enumeration of the country and to make available authentic information regarding the socioeconomic condition and education status of various castes and sections of the population.  The DC also reviewed the poverty alleviation programmes in the district.

The meeting was attended by PD DRDA, DD UD, DSO (Statistics), additional DCs, Jang and Lumla, all the BDOs and administrative officers of the district. DIPRO

 

Students organize rally in support of Anna

ITANGAR, Aug 26: Joining the  fight against corruption across the country and expressing its solidarity with the veteran social activist Anna Hazare who is on an indefinite fast at  ‘Ramlila Ground’ in New Delhi appealing the Central Government to introduce the Jan Lokpall bill in the Parliament to contain corruption in the country, the All East Siang District Students’ Union (AESDSU) in collaboration with Jawahar Lal Nehru College Students Union (JNCSU) organised a candle light rally at Pasighat township on 25th August. The rally started from Jawahar Lal Nehru College auditorium and ended up at Gandhi Chowk and was participated by peoples from every walk of life with chanting the slogan “corruption free India” and “Anna Hazare long live”.  The union term the rally as an eye opener. Tageng Nyitan, President AESDSU in his speech said “the state government should formulate effective policies to deal with corruption which is rampant in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and which happens to be the main cause for uneven development in the state”. Chum Darang, winner of first ever “Miss AAPSU” contest while praising the participation of the people in large number, appealed  them to stand united for such noble cause.

Tokmem Pangkam, Asst. General Secy. of JNCSU while expressing her gratitude to the AESDSU for organizing such historic movement which is first of its kind, said “It should be the moral duty of today’s youths to stand against corruption, so that overall development of the state may be ensured”.

  Rally against corruption

The Parsi Parlo Area Development Committee (PPADC) organized a rally in support of Anna Hazare’s movement against corruption on August 15 last.

The Committee in a release today said that the people of Parsi Parlo area  have been living in dark age due to rampant corruption.  Most of the institutions and Govt administration  remains defunct, the committee alleged adding that  people of this area have been migrating to other places in search of food  due to non-availability of PDS items.  Several representations have been submitted to authorities for air dropping of ration items and to find solution to grievances of general people, but yielded no result, it  resented.

 

SBI conduct financial literacy camp

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: State Bank of India organized open field ‘Financial Literacy camp, first of its kind in the district, in the premises of Govt Primary School, Garung Karbi village under Balijan block today.

KP Thakore, Manager, SBI, Itanagar explained the purpose of financial literacy camp and importance of financial inclusion of those people who have not been accommodated by banks so far. He also explained the importance of having an bank account to help in the process of strengthening the Indian economy.

U.Bagh, AGM, NABARD, highlighted the bank’s credit facilities to individual, self help groups and farmers club.

AK Mishra, Senior Manager, Vijaya Bank, Itanagar explained that the country is now financially sound but all the people are not benefited from the economic development. He advised people to open bank account and take the benefit of various schemes of banks and Government.

T.G. Taba, Chairperson, Anchal Samity appreciated the efforts of State Bank of India to educate people about various banking systems, including opening bank account.

Dr Olik Taring, BDO, Balijan discussed with bank officials about opening of a bank at Balijan.  Nogen Teran, Gaon Bura, Garung village, informed that although a few self help groups are still functioning in the area but they are finding difficulties to avail Govt sponsored schemes due to absence of bank.

Tayi Taggu, EAC, Balijan while advising the villagers to open at least a bank per family for the time being. He suggested the bank officials to fix a date for opening bank accounts for the villagers. He said that he will offer his office premises for the purpose on that particular day.

S.S.Deb, Chief Manager, SBI Lead Bank, Itanagar appealed to all the public to come forward to bring the entire village within the banking net.

NWA vows to work for  under-privileged section

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The newly formed Nyishi Welfare Association (NWA) will extend cooperation to all developmental activities carried out by any Government in the state, said its president Epa Tara today.

Epa further asserted that NWA would try its best to minimize the mushrooming of associations, particularly of Nyishi community in days to come.

Highlighting the basic objectives of the association, NWA general secretary Toyum Son said, “Our main focus will be on under-privileged section of Nyishi community and bring them into developmental front for equal participation and opportunity.  He affirmed to maintain communal harmony and peaceful co-existence with other tribes in the state.  

Son informed that the society will conduct a tour to far flung Nyishi inhabited areas to hear the grievances of the people.

 

RNTCP Review Meeting & DOTS Plus Training conducted

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Family Welfare Thangwang Wangham urged the District TB officers to work with dedication to wipe out TB from the society.

Doctors have a very important place in the society as they are educated and experienced with medical knowledge. People depend on them for treatment of various ailments, Wangham said while attending the State level Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) of the 2nd quarter at the State TB Training & Demonstration Centre (STDC). He urged DTOs to re-dedicate themselves and work for the cause of the people and help them live a healthy life.

Stating that people in rural areas need guidance and more awareness activities, he advised the health officials to extend their health services to remote areas.

NRHM Mission Director Nani Mali said that every possible effort would be made to reach out to the people. He gave emphasis on awareness amongst the community to eradicate TB.

Director of Health Services Dr. K. Nishing in his brief speech said that RNTCP under the leadership of DDHS (TB) has been always performing well despite challenges. He asked the DTOs to make all out efforts to eradicate TB from Arunachal..

Earlier, Dr. B. Tada informed that Arunachal Pradesh will soon roll out DOTS Plus services under which MDR-TB patients will be given free 2nd line Anti-TB drugs. For this, a 6 bedded DOTS Plus site has been approved which will be ready by the end of August where the MDR-TB patients will be put under observation during their treatment under category IV.

He informed that a mechanism has been developed which will help identify the MDR-TB suspects and in diagnosis. This services would be launched in Papum Pare and Lower Subansiri in Phase I very shortly he said.

Later, WHO-RNTCP Consultant Dr. P. Talukdar, briefed about the present status of implementation of DOTS Plus programme in the state and the country.  

Technical discussions were held in the afternoon session in which all the DTOs presented their performance, achievements and challenges faced by them in implementation of the programme. According to them, the major challenges in most of the districts are lack of adequate fund, timely allocation of fund, poor reporting from PHIs, non-availability of doctors at the PHIs, non-functioning Designated Microscopy Centers due to lack of Laboratory Technicians etc.

Earlier, a 3 day DOTS Plus training was held for the Senior Treatment Supervisor (STS) and Senior TB Laboratory Supervisor (STLS) of all the districts at the STDC, Naharlagun from August 22 to 24.

The resource persons for the training were Dr. B. Tada, DDHS (TB), Dr. P. Talukdar, WHO-RNTCP Consultant, Dr. P.D Thongchi, DTO, Papum Pare, Dr. M. Umpo, Microbiologist, IRL and Dr. D. Gambo, MO, STC.

The training imparted skills on suspect identification, sputum collection, packaging and dispatching of the collected sputa.

All the participants were given certificates after completion of the training.

 

Reliving history through exhibitions

NAHARLAGUN, Aug 26: Exhibitions are not only proof of our great achievements, they also help us relive the past.

The cluster level social science exhibition and debate competition conducted among the students of Kendriya Vidayalas at KV No 1 here on Thursday bore testimony to the above truism.  

The exhibits brought back to life the history of this great nation, with their depiction of the Central Jail of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the ill-famed Kalapani where the British used to confine Indian freedom fighters during the freedom movement figuring prominently.

Earthquake damaged portions of the three-storied cellular jail with 698 cells at Port Blair, which had once detained those who were perceived as threats to the British regime. It is a mute witness to the inhuman and barbaric torture the British had perpetrated on the jail’s inmates. There is no record how many were killed, or of their whereabouts, including that of patriot Matmur Jamoh, who had been condemned to Kalapani for murdering British officer captain Neol Williamson at Komsing and Dr Gregorson and his party at Pangi on the 31st March, 1911. The murders had led to the Anglo-Abor war of 1911-1912. Oddly, none of the exhibits reflected the story of the legendry Arunachalee freedom fighter, more so because the island, where coconut cultivation is the mainstay of the people, is also known for its rich biodiversity and local tribal populace.

The event, however, exhibited the rich life of the little known Great Andamanese tribes – the Jarwa, the Jangli or Rutland Jarawa, the Onge and the Sentinelese (the most isolated of all the groups). These tribes still live far away from the impact of modernity and guard their indigenous customs and traditions zealously as mirrored in the group dance presented by the students.

Today, the island is being promoted as a tourist hub. Its jail, sports complex, Gandhi Park, active volcano Mount Harrit and Viper Island are the most important attractions for tourists, researchers and scholars alike.   

Denmark, a Scandinavian country in Northern Europe, known as the largest milk producing country in the world, was another theme. The Jelling stones - massive carved runestones from the 10th century - at Jelling town are referred as the ‘birth certificate’ of the nation. The runic inscriptions on these stones are considered the most well known in Denmark, which reflect its rich civilization and glorious history.    

The theme of the debate competition was ‘Universal brotherhood is more important than patriotism’. During the debate, the students skillfully their oratory skills, reestablishing the ob-jectives of the event - to promote national integration - as pointed out by host KV principal Dr KK Pandey.

In all 114 students from nine schools, who took part in the event, received certificates from KV No 2 principal RC Gond.

 

Minors missing from Assam, mother cries for help

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: Two minor girls, namely Shunki Chetia and Pinky Chetia, aged around 11 and 10 years respectively have gone missing from Hapotia Chetia Gaon under North Lakhimpur, Assam on August 23 last.

According to Yaka Chetia (Mosing), mother of the missing children, who is currently stationed at Ziro under Lower Subansiri and working as a forest guard, said that the children had visited her at Ziro on July 28 last during their school vacations and returned back to Hapotia Chetia Gaon on August 22 with their uncle Nipen Chetia, who is working under Arunachal Pradesh Police with whom both the children were currently living after their father’s death long back.

However, on August 23 last at around 8.30 am, both the children surprisingly went missing from their home and their whereabouts is still not known. All efforts made by the relatives and Assam Police to trace the missing children went in vain, said the mother.

As told to her by two old ladies, Yaka said, two minor children of similar age were reportedly seen boarding in a vehicle with Arunachal Pradesh registration at Batomari near Dhakuakhan on the same day. She feared that her daughters might have landed somewhere in Arunachal Pradesh mistakenly.  

She tearfully appealed to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to help trace back her two missing daughters by giving informations, if any, at their nearest police Station.

 

Inter-state drug peddler arrested

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Banderdewa Police  along with the CRPF jawans have arrested one inter-state drug peddler at Check gate, Banderdewa on August 20.

The police identified the peddler as Prasenjit Roy of Coochbihar, West Bengal and recovered a huge quantity of narcotic drugs, namely, spasmo-proxyvon  and nitrosun  from his possession. During interaction, the accused revealed that  he had purchased the drug from Siliguri in order to sell  it in Capital youth in higher rates.   A case  no 29/2011 U/S 22(b)/27/32 of NDPS Act has been registered, the accused produced before the  district and  session judge, Yupia and  remanded to 14 days judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the SP incharge Apang Tamut appreciated the cooperation of CRPF personnel    for making the state crime free.

 

APYA demands action against absentee teachers

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: All Puroik Youth Association (APYA) has urged the DDSEs of East Kameng, Kurung Kumey and Papum Pare districts  to ensure  regular duty of teachers  in Govt schools of Puroik inhabited areas.

The Association in a release today said that most of the  teachers posted in Puroik area are not performing their duty regularly and staying in district headquarters. Instead of performing their duties with devotion,  they are busy in domestic and contract works, the association alleged.

Meanwhile, the Associaiton decided to conduct surprise visit to the schools in their area next month to take action against absentee teachers.

 

Consumer awareness campaign

ITANAGAR, Aug 26:  A team of officers from the Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs today organized a Consumer Awareness Campaign in Govt. H.S. School, Naharlagun.

Demonstration on proper use of weighing instruments in commercial transactions and various aspects of fraudulent practices normally adopted by scrupulous traders in weighment and measurement, were made before the students.

The Department also organized a Quiz Competition on the activities of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs.

The Principal of the School Tagin Tatan appreciated the efforts of the Department and asked the students to derive maximum benefit from the interaction during the campaign.

The team was led by Hoktum Ori also explained in details on salient features of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection Laws with special elaboration on Consumers’ Rights and responsibilities.

 

Probe demanded into alleged misuse of SPA fund

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: The Arunachal Pradesh Indigenous Tribes Union (APITU) has demanded constitution of an enquiry committee to unearth the alleged misappropriation of SPA fund released by the Central Govt for various development activities in the sate during 2010-11.

The union in a letter addressed to the Union finance minister, the UPA chairperson and the state Governor  appealed them to look into the misappropriation of fund without delay.

It is a matter of great repugnancy that a lion’s share of SPA -2010-11 funds sanctioned against all new projects has been eaten way by the present Govt without any works and conducting state Planning Board meeting, alleged APITU. Giving an instances of misuse of SPA fund, the Union alleged that  SPA fund  for construction of protection work at Batt village has been diverted and misused without consent of the people of Batt village.

Check black marke-teering of LPG

Meanwhile, the union secretary general Taning Siyum in a separate release  urged the capital district administration to cancel  the license of the gas agencies   who sell the cooking gas (LPG) at exorbitant rates in open market.

 

Follow tender process: Contractors

ITANAGAR, Aug 26: All Upper Subansiri District Contractors’ Welfare Association  has appealed the  Upper Subansiri district deputy commissioner to  introduce  tender process for execution of NEC, DoNER, NLCPR, CRF and SPA schemes  of above Rs one crore in the district.

The association in a memorandum further urged upon the DC to consider the views of the Association in  coordination meetings and  also keep them aware about the schemes before finalization.  It further said the scheme should be executed as per norms and guideline.

Meanwhile, the Memorandum appealed for immediate maintainance of Daporijo township road along with drainage system.

The  global source of cholera

 

A global genomic study on the cholera bacterium has revealed the Bay of Bengal to be the single source of all infections into Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas over the past 60 years. The disease kills over a hundred thousand people annually in 56 countries.

The research by a team from Cambridge's Sanger Institute showed the infection is evolving, with the newest waves showing antibiotic resistance.

Cholera is a bacterial infection of the intestine that causes diarrhoea. It affects 3-5 million people annually in 56 countries, killing between 100000 and 150000.

If untreated, it can kill within hours through dehydration. It is easily treated by drinking clean water, but without this, severe cases have a 30-50% mortality rate.

In this study, the researchers sequenced the genome of 154 samples collected from patients around the world. Genome sequencing technologies have been getting better, faster and cheaper. Until recently, sequencing would be carried out on just four or five bacteria samples.

Similarities between cholera genomes showed how the various strains are related, while subtle differences showed how it is evolving.

By investigating these bacteria at the genetic level, the authors were able to piece together the story of the latest, and ongoing, global cholera pandemic.

However, it is not yet clear why the Bay of Bengal is at the centre of the pandemic, though cholera bacteria exist naturally within some marine ecosystems.

The local ecology, climate, and the presence of large river deltas are likely to be key factors in its presence there.

No discrimination please

Dear Editor,

Thanks to Denhang Bosai who endeavors to understand the pivotal role of Non-APS/T employees of the various Departments in the state. The main grievance is that what about the sons and daughters of those Non-APS/Ts who render their valuable services to the people and the state. At least not in paper, a practical 80:20 reservation should be implemented.

Recently the Department of Education announced “Open Quota” for senior Teacher in science due to non availability of adequate APST Science candidates. It is unfortunate that when situation arises the “Open Quota” is put in place but in normal situation even the 80:20 ratio is not followed.

Therefore, I appealed to the Education Department that at least discrimination should not be there in the recruitment process for the greater interest of the student communities.

It’s time to introspect

Dear Editor,

I am impressed by writing of Denghang Bosai on 25th August issue of Arunachal Times as he has written all of my feelings. Truly many of local employees seem to lack work culture and the employment is taken as right for getting salaries. Ours is a nascent state and if we continue to maintain the same spirit not taking ownership of our works then surely we are to be blamed for self destruction. People seem to take their job as part time with total lack of sense of responsibilities and accountability. I completely agree with whatever Bosai has written. It is high time we introspect and work for better future of our state.
